Terms of Use
Last updated September 14, 2026
By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using Truss Tape Plus (the “App”), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Professional production tool
Truss Tape Plus is a desktop app for macOS and Windows for entertainment lighting. It turns a lighting plot export — such as a Vectorworks Spotlight worksheet CSV, an MVR scene file, an in-app hang list, or a companion export — into 1:1 scale paper tape printed on a thermal receipt printer, and related labels and companion paperwork.
The App is a layout and printing aid. It is not a substitute for a lighting plot, a hang schedule, a rigger’s judgment, or on-site measurement. It does not provide medical, legal, electrical, or safety-certification advice.
2. No warranty on accuracy
We strive to print marks that match the plot data you open, but we make no warranties regarding completeness, accuracy, or reliability of any conversion from plot to tape. Source files can be wrong. Printers slip. Calibration can be out of date. The App may contain errors.
You must verify printed marks on site before hanging. Check the tape against a steel tape measure and against the plot. Do not hang, fly, or load a position based solely on printed marks or on App arithmetic.
3. Patch and power check — arithmetic, not a verdict
The App may include a Patch and power check feature. That feature reads patch and power-related fields already present in files you open and reports calculations and collisions based on those fields and on settings you choose (for example voltage, breaker rating, and continuous-load derate).
It checks a plan. It does not make one. It does not assign universes, addresses, or circuits for you, and it does not replace an electrician, rigger, or qualified person.
When the feature reports electrical load or related figures:
- It shows arithmetic, not a safety verdict. Figures are presented with the inputs that produced them. The App does not certify that a circuit is “safe,” “OK,” or “fine.”
- Incomplete data is not treated as zero. If wattage or other inputs are missing, totals may be reported as a floor (“at least …”) or otherwise flagged as incomplete. You must not treat a partial sum as a complete load study.
- You remain responsible for verification. Before energizing, hanging, or loading, you must verify inputs and results against the plot, the dimmer/distro labels, and applicable codes and practices.
Reliance on any Patch and power check output is at your own risk. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for injury, property damage, show delay, or other harm arising from electrical or patch decisions made using the App.
4. License and local use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to install and use the App on the number of machines allowed by your license, for your own professional production work, subject to these Terms. The license is non-transferable to another person. You may move the license among machines you control only as the App’s license tools allow, within your machine limit.
The App runs locally on your computer. You do not need a cloud account to print, and we do not sync your plots to a cloud service by default.
A paid or trial license is an offline signed token verified in the App. No network connection is required to validate a license. Your license may include a machine limit and a tier as stated on your license. Customer name and email in the license payload may be printed on the tape as a license mark.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, or reverse-engineer the App except as allowed by applicable law. This license is for the software only. We do not sell printers, paper, or other hardware.
5. Subscriptions, pricing, and refunds
The App is licensed by subscription or a time-limited trial. Current pricing is shown at purchase. As of this writing:
- A 30-day trial with no credit card.
- A founding annual license at $179/year through June 1, 2027; then $249/year.
- Tiers and machine limits are as stated on your license.
If you buy online, payment is handled by Stripe Checkout. Seller of record: Truss Tape Plus / Andrew Martin.
Subscriptions renew as disclosed at purchase unless you cancel before the renewal date through the purchase path you used. Uninstalling the App does not cancel a paid subscription.
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy, also summarized at checkout: the trial needs no refund; for a paid annual license you may request a refund of the first paid annual charge within 14 days of the charge; after that window, non-refundable except where required by law or by Stripe’s rules.
6. Acceptable use
You agree to use the App only for its intended production purpose, and not to:
- use the App unlawfully;
- bypass, forge, share, or exceed the machine limit on your license;
- interfere with or disrupt the App;
- scrape or extract the App’s code or content with automated means; or
- treat printed marks or App arithmetic as a substitute for on-site verification, or otherwise use the App in a way that creates an unreasonable risk to people or property.
7. Intellectual property
The App, its design, text, graphics, and software are owned by us or our licensors. Plot files you open remain yours. You grant us no rights in those files.
Vectorworks, Spotlight, Epson, and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners. Truss Tape Plus is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by those owners.
8. Disclaimers
The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, correct plot-to-tape conversion, or that a printer profile will match your hardware.
Supported printers include examples such as the Epson TM-T20IV or TM-T20III with an ethernet port, and other ESC/POS profiles listed in the App. Compatibility is not a guarantee of scale accuracy; you must calibrate and verify.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss arising from your use of or reliance on the App, including reliance on printed marks, calibration, plot conversion, or load arithmetic.
Printed marks and arithmetic are aids. The hanging and rigging crew remains responsible for verifying positions, following applicable safety practices, and deciding whether it is safe to hang, fly, power, or load. We are not liable for injury, property damage, show delay, or other harm from reliance on the App.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid us for the license in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Termination
We may suspend or revoke your license if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time and uninstall it. Sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and refund rules already applied) survive termination.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on trusstapeplus.com with a new “Last Updated” date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
12. Contact
Questions about these Terms: use Support → Contact Us on trusstapeplus.com/support.html. We do not publish a public support phone number or a public support email address on the website.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
